From boredom busters to weekend tradition
What started as a small idea during the quiet days of COVID-19 has now grown into a vibrant community. Back in 2020, a few neighbors in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego began meeting at the Dingeman Elementary School Ground and started playing cricket simply to beat the boredom — nothing formal, just a fun way to stay active, move around, and lift each other’s spirits during an uncertain time.
Those casual weekend games quickly became something more. Friends told their friends, word spread within the neighborhood circles, and soon the group began to grow. What started with just a handful of people has now become a 33-member local cricket club, bringing together individuals and families who share the same love for the game, community, and connection.
Today, we continue with the same spirit we began with — staying active, staying connected, and creating a positive space for everyone. Our club isn’t just about cricket; it’s about friendships, laughter, and building something meaningful together.

The Eight Who Started It All
Eight neighbors, one field, and no idea they were building something special — that’s how the magic began.

Scripps Ranch Cricket — 5th Anniversary Celebration
Date : Dec 7, 2025
Location : Lopez Ridge Park and Recreation Center, Mira Mesa
This year marks five years of our cricket group growing, bonding, and spending countless weekends together. To celebrate this milestone, we’re hosting a small, family-focused gathering exclusively for our group. It’s a relaxed get-together with our families, a chance to appreciate the journey so far, take a few photos, and enjoy the moment together. No match, no formal agenda — just a simple celebration of five years of community, friendship, and shared memories.
